Coping with COP – Practical steps to making the change in industry the planet needs

Round Table

13 October 2017, hosted by Unilever, Vlaardingen, The Netherlands

From 7 to 19 November 2016, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Marrakesh, Morocco, hosted the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC - COP22).

A number of innovation challenges were also launched to target development of technologies that will accelerate the clean energy transition, fight climate change and promote sustainability.

What is the role of industrial R&D in meeting the societal challenges set by COP? Sustainability and the circular economy, amongst others, increase pressure on industry to meet the targets published by COP.

The Innovation challenges from COP22 give a clear focus for the collective efforts of public and private researchers, innovators and investors, which will help to accelerate innovation in these areas. What does that mean for the European industrial R&D community?

This workshop will provide an overview of the responses from industrial R&D organisations to sustainability challenges.
