Summary
R&D has a self-interest in taking a proactive role working with government affairs and communications specialists to communicate internally and externally to create awareness, to inform, and to influence. The principle of precaution, smart regulations, consumer acceptance, ensuring the competitiveness of European industry are examples of the crossroads between R&D, public policy and regulations, and the opinion of the general public.
Issues addressed
Current practices where R&D influences and is influenced by public policy, regulations, and concern for corporate reputation.
Best practices and transversal cooperation within the organisation will be presented addressing issues such as GHG emissions, total carbon footprint, nanotechnologies, water footprint, hazardous substances, materials and their scarcity, and sustainable feedstock.
