Uncovering and Assessing Hidden Customer Needs and Market Opportunities – 21 April 2009, Nice
Capturing and understanding the weak signals that may give indications of future trends is crucial.
This Round Table will explore the hidden world of latent needs and demonstrate how to use them as innovation drivers. Participants will be able to test their ability to detect weak signals using software that will be presented by one of the speakers.

An introduction and training in R&D management for “Second Line Managers” facing or having had a major promotion into positions that carry substantial responsibilities.
The seminar will explore the principles of R&D management and recent trends for even more business relevance. Based on exchange of, and mutual learning from, the practical experience of participants, it will concentrate in a pragmatic way on problems and tasks faced within a modern R&D environment.
A Larger Europe in a Smaller World - Opportunities and Challenges of a Growing R&D Community

The 2009 Annual Conference will look East and beyond. It will explore the global context of R&D and the challenges and opportunities from the radical changes ahead.
There will also be an exhibition of Hungarian innovation as a great opportunity to discuss new developments with members of the local business community.

Financial Controlling in R&D – 13 March 2009, Paris
Financial Controlling in R&D is becoming more complex and some companies use sophisticated models to this effect. This Round Table provided an opportunity for a frank exchange of experiences about financial control practices in R&D, the acceptance of these practices, and for a discussion of the models used, eg: funding model (internal funds from BUs or from corporate); income alternatives (fixed charges versus hourly rates); cost-base versus mark-up on third parties; funding for investments; efficiency control (chargeable hours versus internal hours); measurement of KPIs, etc.

Selling R&D and New Product Development – 19-20 February, St Paul de Vence
This meeting explored how companies handle the valorisation of their R&D, establish value and strategic potential for new activities and new product development, and then market the benefits of these activities to key corporate customers.
The meeting enabled participants to assess alternative ways of achieving “buy-in” across business functions and for communicating R&D objectives with senior management. It also provided opportunity for informal discussion of the perspectives for company R&D in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.
Roadmapping Learning Group - 12-13 February, near Paris
The purpose of this meeting was to learn how to map out technology and resource needs for developing new products, processes or services in practice, as an enabler for realising the business strategy.
This first of two sessions provided a balanced mix of tutoring, case studies and mutual learning in interactive sessions and discussions, provides practical training in Roadmapping for R&D and for New Businesses or Start-ups.
A second session, on 10-11 September 2009, will focus on progress and problems in Roadmapping experienced since the first meeting.
OECD Symposium on Global Open Innovation Networks – 23 January, Paris
This symposium in Paris examined the phenomenon of global open innovation from the perspective of France and Europe.
The workshop assessed the international variations in open innovation practices.
