Patents and Trade secrets in and from China

Special Interest Group on Intellectual Asset Management

7 & 8 June  2018, Frankfurt, Germany

Summary

In 2017, the two SIG-IAM meetings are focusing on trade secrets and patents with a global view, more particularly on EU, US and Italy.

For our first 2018 session, we will focus on China and how to prepare your business there.

China is a country with a long term planning horizon, and doing business in China is getting more and more challenging for European companies - despite the fact that the standards in IP prosecution and IP enforcement in China have been improving considerably in the last few years.

We will discuss the some  IP filing strategy of European companies for China, and we will present the legal framework of trade secret protection in China and its application in practice. Furthermore, we will address best practises, pitfalls and challenges you are faced with regarding IP when doing business in China, with special focus on employment aspects (employment contracts, inventor remuneration, incentives to strengthen employees’ loyalty to the company).there.
