LDM was originally inspired by drkFusion's vb Link Directory for VBulletin version 2 and a lengthy discussion in 2003 on vBulletin.org about a version 3. First released in early 2004, LDM is a complete rewrite, which has had many more features added subsequently: uploads, media handling, synchronisation, bandwidth management, etc. Many of the features and bug fixes have been suggested on vBulletin.org.

Slave was particularly prolific in his suggestions and testing. Calorie gave helpful input on searching, code safety and user comments. TundraSoul guided the User Profile integration. ZED28 helped with image handling. Ophelia encouraged me to add features to make life easier for a community of editors adding material daily. vbBoarder has been very helpful with media handling and efficiency improvements. The list goes on.

The first French translation was provided by cclaerhout, continued by Allan, albibak and PitchouneN64ngc.

The German translation was begun by LeeWicKeD, continued by dlutt.

The first Spanish translation came from Hugo, and has been redone and continued by obmob.

The Dutch translation comes from Harry1951, completed by Alfa1.

The Chinese translation comes from ItsBlack.
